The largest investment in the history of Wrocław Airport, comprising in its first stage the expansion of the operational area (airside): a new apron for 14 code C aircraft, a rapid exit taxiway, a new taxiway 2.5 km long, and a de-icing pad. The main contractor is STRABAG Infrastruktura Południe; work was inaugurated at the end of October 2024, with completion planned for December 2026. To connect the new infrastructure with the runway, the airport was closed in its entirety from 26 October to 4 December 2025. The investment, worth just under PLN 377 million net, is co-financed by the EU CEF2 instrument with an amount of PLN 175 million.

Significance

The expansion nearly doubles the airport's operational capabilities: the new apron will allow 28 aircraft to be parked simultaneously, and the airport's target capacity is to increase to 8-10 million passengers per year (from a level of approx. 4-4.5 million). The full closure of the airport for 40 days (26.10-4.12.2025) was a rare precedent on a national scale, necessary to integrate the new infrastructure with the runway.
