A1 Motorway Gdańsk–Toruń (Gdańsk Transport Company concession section)
The northern, concession section of the A1 motorway, approximately 152 km long, running from Gdańsk (Rusocin) to Toruń, delivered under a public-private partnership formula by Gdańsk Transport Company S.A., which financed, designed, built, and operates the route (ultimately through 2039). The concession agreement with the government was signed in August 2004. The investment was carried out in two stages: Stage I Rusocin–Nowe Marzy (90 km, contract value EUR 529 million), whose first sections opened on 22 December 2007, and Stage II Nowe Marzy–Toruń (62 km, contract value EUR 730 million, including EUR 581 million for the road and EUR 149 million for bridge structures). Stage II was opened to traffic on 14 October 2011, completing the continuous motorway connection Gdańsk–Toruń ahead of the UEFA Euro 2012 European football championship. The figure in the cost field (EUR 730 million) refers to the Stage II contract (Nowe Marzy–Toruń), opened in 2011.

Significance
The completion in 2011 of the concession section Gdańsk–Toruń provided the first continuous motorway connection between the Tricity area and central Poland and shortened travel time between Gdańsk and Toruń to approximately 65 minutes. The route was one of the largest road investments delivered in Poland under a public-private partnership formula, and its completion ahead of UEFA Euro 2012 was significant for handling traffic for the tournament co-hosted by Poland. The concessionaire Gdańsk Transport Company S.A. manages the entire approximately 152 km section as a toll road until 2039, after which the facility is to be transferred to the public side.
