President Lech Kaczyński LNG Terminal in Świnoujście
The first maritime terminal for the receipt and regasification of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in Poland and in the Baltic Sea region, located in Świnoujście, in the Warszów district on the island of Wolin (Ku Morzu 1 Street), in the Zachodniopomorskie Voivodeship. The decision to build the LNG terminal was taken by the government of Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz in 2006, and the cornerstone for the investment was laid on 23 March 2011. The first LNG carrier with liquefied natural gas arrived in Świnoujście on 11 December 2015, and the first commercial LNG delivery reached the terminal on 17 June 2016; the facility has been operated commercially since 2016. The terminal comprises, among other things, three cryogenic LNG storage tanks with a total capacity of 500,000 m³. The final value of the investment reached PLN 3 billion 638 million, including over PLN 888 million in European Union funding. The terminal operator is GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. (until 2021 through its subsidiary Polskie LNG S.A.).

Significance
The LNG terminal in Świnoujście was the first maritime LNG terminal in Poland and in the Baltic Sea region, giving the country access to liquefied natural gas supplies by sea from any supplier and thereby diversifying gas sources beyond the eastern direction. Since its launch in December 2015 and the first commercial delivery in June 2016, the facility has become one of the pillars of Poland's energy security. In the first ten years of operation, 445 deliveries of liquefied natural gas reached the terminal. The installation's regasification capacity was subsequently increased as part of an expansion (to 6.2 billion m³ of gas per year).
