Expansion of nitrogen fertiliser production capacity at the ANWIL plants in Włocławek (ORLEN Group), worth approx. PLN 1.7 billion. As part of the investment, a third fertiliser line was built, consisting of a nitric acid production unit together with neutralisation, a granulation unit, and accompanying technical infrastructure. Thanks to it, the company's annual production capacity increased by approx. 50 percent – from 966 thousand tonnes to 1,461 thousand tonnes of fertiliser – and the product range was broadened by four products: coarse ammonium nitrate, ammonium sulphate nitrate, calcium ammonium nitrate with sulphur, and calcium ammonium nitrate with magnesium. The general contractor for the granulation unit was the Italian company Tecnimont. Completion was originally assumed for 2021, but the deadline was repeatedly postponed as a result of the pandemic, the war in Ukraine, and supply chain disruptions; construction was finalised in 2023, and the new products reached the market in the spring season of 2024.

Significance

The largest investment in the history of the Włocławek company ANWIL, strengthening its position as a key domestic producer of nitrogen fertilisers. Increasing annual production capacity by approx. 50 percent (to 1,461 thousand tonnes) and broadening the portfolio by four new types of fertiliser strengthened the country's security in supplying agriculture with fertilisers. The investment provided approx. 200 additional jobs in a region for which ANWIL is the largest employer.
