A complex of installations for the production of second-generation bioethanol (B2G) built by ORLEN Południe at the production plant in Jedlicze in the Podkarpacie region. The main installation, with an annual output of approximately 25,000 tons, is to produce an advanced biocomponent from non-food biomass, primarily cereal straw, accompanied by a biomass combined heat and power plant. EPC contracts were signed in 2022 (the general contractor for the main installation is ZARMEN Sp. z o.o.), and total capital expenditure was estimated at approximately PLN 1.12 billion. The original completion date by the end of 2024 was postponed; according to reports from November 2025, Orlen plans to commission the installation in mid-2027, attributing the delay to, among other things, changes to the contract with the contractor and modifications to the project being implemented.

Significance

The installation is to produce an advanced biocomponent (second-generation bioethanol) from non-food raw materials, which avoids competition with food production. Ultimately, the complex is to supply up to approximately 30,000 tons of advanced biocomponent per year, while utilizing approximately 160,000 tons of straw, and to support the fulfillment of EU requirements regarding the share of advanced biofuels in transport.
