A nationwide grant programme strengthening the cybersecurity of local government units, implemented by the Centrum Projektów Polska Cyfrowa in partnership with NASK PIB. Local governments receive grants ranging from PLN 200 thousand to PLN 850 thousand for hardware, software, procedures and training. The project is financed from the European Funds for Digital Development 2021-2027 (Measure 2.2), with a total value of approx. PLN 1.5 billion. The support has reached over 2 thousand local governments from all voivodeships. The government has announced a continuation of the programme in the Cybersecurity Strategy of the Republic of Poland, drawing on KPO and FERC funds.

Significance

The largest civilian investment in the cybersecurity of Polish local governments: the grants enable over 2 thousand local government units to purchase protective hardware and software, implement security procedures and train their staff. The programme covers local governments from all voivodeships and increases the resilience of key public-service infrastructure to cyberattacks. The announced continuation using KPO and FERC funds is to expand the support to include the establishment of security operations centres (SOC) and audits.
