A large-scale battery energy storage system with a capacity of 262 MW and approximately 981 MWh, being built by PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna in Pomorskie Voivodeship, adjacent to the Żarnowiec pumped-storage power plant. The general contractor is LG Energy Solution Wrocław, and the contract value is PLN 1.555 billion gross. Construction was inaugurated in March 2025; by July 2026, more than 150 of the 204 battery units had been installed and a power transformer delivered. Completion is planned for 2027, and the project benefits from support under the National Recovery Plan.

Significance

Once completed, it is set to be the largest battery energy storage facility in Poland and one of the largest in Europe. The installation is intended to support the integration of renewable energy sources and the stabilization of the national power system; the project secured a 17-year contract in the capacity market auction for 2029, as well as Poland's first permit promise (promesa koncesji) for electricity storage.
