Gryfino Battery Energy Storage System (BESS, 400 MW / 800 MWh)
A battery energy storage system of up to 400 MW and at least 800 MWh, to be built by PGE Energia Odnawialna (PGE Group) at the Dolna Odra power plant in Nowe Czarnowo near Gryfino, Zachodniopomorskie Voivodeship. The tender was launched in August 2025; the contracting authority's budget was close to PLN 969 million gross, and all three bids exceeded it. In April 2026 a design-and-build contract worth PLN 1.142 billion gross was signed with a consortium of Polish companies, SPEC BAU POLSKA and El Professional; the battery technology will be supplied by Fluence. Commissioning is planned for the end of 2028.

Significance
Once in operation, it is set to be the largest battery energy storage facility in Poland by installed power. It is meant to store surplus energy from wind and solar farms and release it to the grid at times of higher demand. The project holds a 17-year capacity market contract with an obligation of close to 121 MW from the start of 2029.

Independence is counted the same way the gate that admits a record counts it: subdomains and titles from one publisher are a single voice, Wikipedia is zero. That is why the number is lower than the number of links. Three is the minimum.
