A gas pipeline linking Norwegian deposits through Denmark with the Polish transmission system, delivered by Gaz-System in cooperation with the Danish operator Energinet. On the Polish side it comprised 275 km of subsea pipeline from Faxe to Pogorzelica, 231 km of domestic pipelines (Goleniów–Lwówek and Niechorze–Płoty), as well as the expansion and construction of gas compressor stations. The operators' agreement was signed in 2016, construction work was carried out in the years 2020–2022, gas transmission was launched on 1 October 2022, and the pipeline reached its full capacity of approximately 10 billion m3 per year on 30 November 2022, in line with the schedule announced since 2017.

Significance

A key element of the diversification of gas supplies to Poland: it enables direct transmission of gas from Norwegian deposits. Norwegian gas began flowing this way to Poland from 1 November 2022. The capacity of approximately 10 billion m3 per year covers a significant part of domestic demand; already in 2023 PGNiG planned to import at least 6.5 billion m3 of gas via this route.
